  • Black Gold Regional Division No. 18 and École Champs Vallée School are excited to announce that the startup schedule for the new school has been released at December’s Regular Board Meeting.

Currently classes for École Champs Vallée School students are hosted at École Bellevue School as a “school within a school”.  Students have been grouped in their cohort classes with their École Champs Vallée classmates and teachers since September 2017.  The school’s Principal/Directeur Patrick Gamache Hutchison and Assistant Principal Erik Larson have been responding during this time to the needs of the new school and students.

“We are extremely excited to be getting closer to opening day.  We could not be more proud of our school community for working so collaboratively together to make this process run so smoothly and to help make this project a reality,” stated Superintendent of Schools Norman Yanitski.

Opening day with students and staff has been scheduled for February 20, 2018, right after the Family Day weekend. Students at École Champs Vallée School and École Bellevue School will not have school on February 16, 2018, to accommodate staff moving their learning materials over to the new school. Families that are currently using Black Gold transportation/buses will receive transportation information via email from the Division’s Transportation Department by the end of January.

École Champs Vallée School is the Division’s newest school, located in the Four Seasons neighbourhood in Beaumont, Alberta.  In 2018 – 2019, the school will be a configured to a Grades Pre-Kindergarten to 8 school, offering English and French Immersion programming. Grade 9 is to be added in the 2019 – 2020 school year.

2018 – 2019 attendance boundaries will incorporate the associated neighbourhoods: Chaleureuse Business Park, Four Seasons Estates, Montrose Business Centre, Montrose Estates, Place Chaleureuse, Ruisseau and K to 8 – Rural West Students (students west of Highway 814) and K to 8 – French Immersion Students from New Sarepta attendance boundary.

This new school will have a full 900 student capacity.  This is a welcomed addition of much-needed space for the Beaumont students in our Black Gold family.
