Dice Duels: Bike Race

Bivariate Data Students will collect arm span vs. height data to create a scatter plot and add a line of best fit.
Linear Relations
Dice Duels: Bike Race Students select a bicycle and observe how it performs in a race where the bicycle's progress is determined by the roll of two dice. They look for any patterns in the results of different bikes and in the results of 100 races.
Viewfinder Students interpret and visualize representations of three-dimensional solids, such as cylinders, cones and cuboids, from different perspectives
Orthographic Projections This is an animated web site that introduces the student to the basics of orthographic drawing. It has several challenge activities.
Transformations Students use GeoGebra to investigate translations, reflections, rotations and dilatations
Alga-Tiles
Statistics Canada Graphing Lesson Plans
Census At School Census at School is an international classroom project for students aged 8 to 18. They gather information about themselves by completing a brief online survey. The anonymous results are used for teaching various subjects and comparing students' lives in different countries.

The Vitruvian Theory-Does It Apply To You?
Survey on Marketing This project is adapted from the Classroom Assessment Tool Kit (2003). It meets the criteria for integration of the "C" outcomes in the ICT Curriculum.
March Madness 2008  Analyze the statistics leading up to the NCAA Basketball championship games. This site will be updated after Selection Sunday.
Connecting Math and Astronomy Use this site to create a database of the planets in the solar system.

Interactive Resources

Math Glossary The resource is a glossary of Mathematics words based on the WNCP, partitioned by division. The majority of words at every division will have an interactive component (JAVA or FLASH) to help illustrate the meaning of each word. In division one and two (where possible), real world pictures to illustrate each word will be included.

Math Continuum This resource contains a series of interactive mathematics problems, activities, and games. Topics covered in the resource include fractions; integers; order of operations; percentages; rates and ratios; equations; patterns; angles; interpretation of data; area; polygons; circles; circumference; the Pythagorean Theorem; volume and capacity; central tendencies; and graphs.

Shodor Interactivate Resources designed specifically for students or teachers, including the java-based activities, sample lesson plans, background materials, and hyper linked textbook tables of contents.
National Library of Virtual Manipulatives A library of uniquely interactive, web-based virtual manipulatives or concept tutorials, mostly in the form of Java applets, for mathematics instruction.
Illuminations i-Math Investigations are ready-to-use, online, interactive, multimedia math investigations. Complete i-Maths include student investigations, teacher notes, and answers.
Math On Line Jim Reed has put together an outstanding site for delivering Math 8 curriculum and has developed some excellent tools using Flash for topics such as transformations, probability, trigonometry and tessellations.
