Just before 3:00pm, a potentially dangerous situation in Southfork, Leduc occurred. RCMP were conducting an investigation on the north side of Songhurst Wynd, in the community of Southfork, when a man under investigation locked himself in his house. After doing a risk assessment, officers decided there was a higher than normal level of risk to the public and police safety. Leduc RCMP, then, requested that schools not allow busses to enter the Southfork subdivision.
On Friday, November 21, 2014, Leduc Composite High School (LCHS) and representatives from the University of Alberta (U of A) participated in a Festival of Ideas event. Four graduate students from the U of A presented summaries of their research work. LCHS students had the opportunity to be inspired by brilliant minds and gain insight into some of the most promising research happening today at the U of A.
Black Gold Regional Schools (BGRS) continues to encourage innovation by providing a fund to support new and unique innovations. Earlier this year the BGRS Board of Education announced a $100,000 fund for schools to submit innovative proposals that focused on the BGRS core values: student focused learning, relationships, supportive environments, passion, and managing resources responsibly.
