There is no charge for rural students attending rural schools who reside in the appropriate attendance area and who are over 2.4 kms from and are attending their designated school. Parents are to register with the Transportation Department of Black Gold Regional Schools prior to accessing any available bussing.

Students should be prepared for an alternate safe place should a bus not show because of poor weather conditions or a break down. Students should dress appropriately for inclement weather. If a bus breaks down and there is no heat on the bus, students could be in danger especially in the rural areas. In addition, students should be instructed never to try to walk home if they have missed their bus or transfer bus after school. Please advise your children to go back to the school office or talk to the bus supervisor or teachers.

Parents who reside outside of an attendance area are to contact the Transportation Department regarding the School of Choice policy and fees to see if partial transportation may be available. Permission to attend a school outside of a student's attendance area must first be received from the Principal of that school, however, the Principal's permission would not guarantee transportation. Parents making the decision to send their children to schools outside the attendance area, and receiving the Principal's permission to do so, should be prepared to transport their students to that school.
