BGRS Use of Alberta Ed. Additional Funding

Black Gold Regional Schools received $1,350,802 from the Provincial government as part of their commitment to restore funding levels to local school boards. Black Gold put together a comprehensive plan which acknowledges the Minister's commitment to:
- Build capacity
- Recognize the importance of collaboration
- Move us to an inclusive education system
The following areas will be enhanced:
- Additional 4 FTE staff to lower class size and support student learning
- Targeted Alberta Initiative for School Improvement funding will be used to hire 4.35 FTE school-based teachers
- Targeted $35,000 for English as a Second Language goes directly to support the student
- Additional 6 FTE Education Assistants and 1 FTE Learning Support Teacher time to enhance program delivery
- Professional Development funding reinstated of $150 per staff to support an inclusive education system and capacity building
- Technology Integration by adding 400 student netbooks
- Instructional Innovative fund of $100,000 to explore opportunities to enhance learning in Black Gold Regional Schools.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Black Gold continues to meet the class size initiative (smaller class sizes)
- 9 FTE Teaching staff added
- 6 FTE Educational Assistants added
- 400 student netbooks added
- New “Innovation” opportunity to engage students in the classroom
- Enhanced professional development opportunities
