Black Gold Elementary Track Meet

On June 7th, approximately 1280 Black Gold students participated in the Black Gold Elementary Track Meet at Riverview Middle School in Devon. There were 105 races including 724 shuttle relay teams and 269 field event teams competing in long jump and ball throw.

Thank you to Riverview Middle School Staff and School Council, especially Teacher - Janet Shulha, who dedicated an extra-ordinary amount of time to host this huge event. The following Track Meet Officials ensured that the track meet ran smoothly: Kathy Berube, Roxanne Bray-ford, Nicole Chapman, Dylan Dellezay, Candace Dreger, Don Finlayson, Carla Fisher, Maureen Fleming, Kyla Horvat, Michelle Hutchings, Mark May, Kathryn McKinnon, Chris Mistol, Tracy Mosicki, Carlene Nelson, Ann Oppermann, Val Rind, Deb Schmidt, Janet Shulha, Meghan Sych, and Stan Travnik. Special thanks to JMHS Teacher, Crissi Fedor, who brought a terrific group of high school students who assisted at the relays, the marshalling area and wherever their help was needed!

Thank you to Caledonia Park, Covenant Christian, Coloniale Estates, J. E. Lapointe and Warburg Schools who brought junior high students to assist at the field events. These student assistants did a great job measuring, raking, marking, calculating, and running results to the statisticians.

Our appreciation to Evelyn Buss, Layna Fenske, Debbie Ouellette, and Julie Hill who assisted Cindy Villeneuve, Track Meet Coordinator, with all of the track meet results such as organizing, tabulating, entering and reviewing the statistics. Their accuracy and competence is remarkable considering the enormous amount of statistics that they are working on throughout the entire day.

With everyone’s help, the track meet was a tremendous success in spite of the threatening weather! It was fantastic to see the students, coaches and parents cheering and encouraging all of the athletes.
