Black Gold Regional Schools’ enrolment numbers for 2011-2012 school year have surpassed the 9,000 student threshold for the first time.

At the October 12, 2011 Board of Education meeting, Ruth Andres, Secretary-Treasurer, told Trustees that, “Being an urban/rural board, we see fluctuations in our various schools, but overall the division has had an increase in students.”

Dr. Norman Yanitski, Superintendent, stated, “I’m quite excited about this number because it’s the first time we’ve crossed the 9,000 student threshold, which is considered a very significant number.”

The Division is putting together an updated 10-year capital plan to identify and prioritize the communities that require new schools, or existing schools that need to be upgraded or renovated in the coming years.

“The information will help us predict into the future what we’ll need to look at” said Dr. Yanitski.
