Black Gold Regional Schools has always encouraged innovation in their schools and this year, even more so by providing a fund to finance new and unique innovations. Recently, the Board announced a $100,000 fund for schools to submit innovative proposals to explore creative approaches or methods of instruction to enhance student engagement. The criteria to determine the successful proposals included important elements such as being:
- student centered
- innovative and unique
- sustainable over a longer term
- implemented this year
- supported by school administration
A committee of four principals was charged with the responsibility of determining which proposals were to be funded. Out of the 27 excellent proposals submitted, 13 of these, totaling $121,000, were selected as being creative, educational opportunities for our students. Some of these selected included:
- digital story telling equipment
- ipad centers for early learners
- pilot project for full day everyday kindergarten for at risk students
- garden bed project for elementary students
- interactive learning centers
The Board approved the recommendations of the committee and increased their contribution to match the cost of the selected proposals. Black Gold Regional Schools is proud to have creative and innovative educators working to support enhanced student learning.
