Ecole Dansereau Meadows School

The Board of Education of Black Gold Regional Schools is pleased to announce the name of the new public Beaumont school, École Dansereau Meadows School.  The new school is expected to open in September of 2014.  École Dansereau Meadows School will be constructed in the northwest quadrant of Beaumont, on land previously owned by the Dansereau Family.

Dansereau is a historical name within Beaumont.  In 1903, Napoleon and Cordélia Dansereau moved from Quebec and became one of the early settlers of Beaumont.  They had eight children, several of whom were involved in the Beaumont community.  Many Dansereau descendants continue to live within the area.

One of their sons, Léopold, moved to a farm north of Beaumont which is near the École Dansereau Meadows School site.  Léopold was a very successful farmer and owned a substantial amount of land in the Beaumont area.

The Board certainly appreciated the number of submissions they received for the “Name the New Beaumont School” contest.  Three of the submitted entries suggested “Dansereau” to be included within the new school name.  The Black Gold Board of Education approved these recommendations and has officially named the new public Beaumont school, École Dansereau Meadows School.

A strong link to the past, looking forward to a great future!
