At Ecole Corinthia Park School Grade 4 teachers Jennifer El-Khatib and Jessica Campbell will be sharing a netbook cart. Initially they will introduce students to Kidblog with a focus on collaboration and higher order thinking skills. The students are studying Plant Growth and Changes in Science and will be completing the project Diary of a Flower on the BGRS Engaging Student site.
At Ecole Coloniale Estates School Grade 5 teachers Monique Goudreau, Marie-Eve Poliquin and Sherry Lynn Gudmundson will be sharing a netbook cart for analyzing research. The initial focus of this project is to examine the impact geographical regions had on living conditions of various aboriginal groups. Students will publish a journal entry from the viewpoint of an Archeologist in an Archeology Magazine- a publication of the Archaeological Institute of Canada (actually Kidblog). They will read each other’s “publications “ and analyze common factors of various regions, unique factors, and the impact regions had on the way of life of Aboriginals.
At Warburg School teachers in Grade 2 (Sharon Martin); Grade 3 (Tanya Babcook); and /Grade 4-5 (John Arnold) will be sharing a netbook cart. The Grade 2 /3 focus is on increasing student engagement by using applications and websites appropriate to learning styles and levels to personalize learning. Mr. Arnold will be using the Netbooks in Science class. Students will be completing several science projects on the BGRS Engaging Student site and he will be introducing the students to a variety of Science Gizmos to support higher order thinking skills.
