Piloting 13 Class Sets of Netbooks
Piloting 13 Class Sets of Netbooks

Thirteen class sets of netbooks have been allocated to individual teachers in various schools throughout BGRS on a fulltime basis as we continue to investigate different models of access for students. These sets will be used to further our exploration as to what works best in a classroom where students have ready access to digital technology. Each project required the teacher to submit background information in three main areas:
- A link to a project developed and undertaken with students that reflects the BGRS technology goals of any or all of: HOTS, student engagement and collaboration.
- A description of activities the teacher may have led, or been involved in, with other teachers within their school, the division or outside the division, to further the appropriate use of technology reflecting HOTS, student engagement or collaboration.
- A description of potential activities that would be the focus of the ongoing use of the netbooks for student collaboration with the teacher’s classes, using digital tools.
A committee (Board member, teacher, administrators, and consultants) reviewed all applications. Unfortunately there were many qualified applicants that we were unable to fund, but we know they will continue to make good use of their current netbook access. Successful applicants are listed below.
