  • Leduc Incident

    Posted on    Posted in BGSD

Early this afternoon, Leduc Composite High School (LCHS) officials received information that resulted in the threat assessment protocol being activated. As a precautionary measure, the RCMP responded, as per protocol, and the school was placed in a state of Hold and Secure; all exterior doors were locked and students remained within classrooms. As part of our Emergency Response Plan protocol, all of the Black Gold Regional Schools (BGRS) within the City of Leduc were notified and also placed into a Hold and Secure state. Upon receiving approval from the RCMP, students at all schools including those from LCHS were dismissed with supervision on or close to their regular dismissal time.

Our first priority is to ensure the safety of all our students and staff. We are taking necessary precautions to make certain that this is the case. We take all issues that may affect safety seriously.

We ask for your assistance by speaking to your children about the seriousness of making threats and the need to eliminate this kind of behaviour. Please encourage your child to act responsibly, to not participate in these types of activities-even in a joking manner, and to tell an adult if he or she hears anyone talk about making any type of threat. Should you become aware of any information concerning the LCHS incident please contact the Leduc RCMP at (780) 980 7267 or Crime Stoppers at 1 800 222 8477.

Thank you for your support in this matter; all schools will be open tomorrow.

    Sincerely,

    Black Gold Regional Schools
