  • Black Gold schools to remain open during expanded public health measures

Questions are quickly arising related to the Premier’s announcement yesterday about regional school closures for grades 7-12.

At present, Black Gold School Division schools do not fall within the provincially established criteria for closure. The Province is applying targeted, two-week restrictions to communities or regions with a case rate above 350 per 100,000 people, and 250 active cases. Rural municipalities with fewer than 250 active cases are excluded from this threshold.

The Division is closely monitoring school COVID-19 case numbers. Should our numbers go up and necessitate closure, we will work with Alberta Education to take all appropriate actions to keep our students and staff safe.
