The winner of this year’s Board of Trustees Inspiring Success Award of Distinction is Rickie-Lee Hildebrand, a Grade 5 teacher at École Leduc Estates School (ÉLES)!

Rickie-Lee’s nominators describe her as a pillar of knowledge, positivity, and support at the school. “To say she has made a notable contribution is an understatement,” said fellow teacher Allison Hubenig. “Through her handful of years at our school she has greatly contributed to the education of students in our grades one through six classes.”

In addition to her work with students academically, Rickie-Lee volunteers her time to make ÉLES a warm and welcoming place. She has been on several staff-led committees to ensure special event days such as Summer Fun Day and Carnaval are planned for students to make lasting memories of their time at the school.

“Rickie-Lee’s teaching style epitomizes student-focused learning,” said ÉLES Principal Carla Fisher. “She creates an environment of inclusivity in her classroom with students and in her interactions with staff. Her classroom is a safe space where all students and staff feel successful and are given a place to belong.”

Her lessons are engaging and hands-on and meets the learning needs of all learners. She builds strong relationships with students, parents, and staff. She is approachable and willing to collaborate, and her passion for learning and literacy is a huge asset to our school division.

“Rickie-Lee has also inspired success through her passion for student learning,” said Educational Assistant Kayla Butt. “Her classroom is a hub for activity and excitement: neat, organized, and full of tools for learning. She is the ‘marigold’ in our school who inspires success in all those around her.”
