At their regular meeting on Wednesday, May 26,  the Board of Trustees declared City of Beaumont Trustee Robyn Steed as the new vice-chair, effective immediately.

Trustee Steed’s appointment follows the resignation of Vice Chair Sarah O’Gorman, who is moving out of the province and therefore unable to continue in the role.

“On behalf of the Board, I want to extend my gratitude and well-wishes to Sarah and her family as they move forward on their next adventure,” said Board Chair Devonna Klaassen. “As a trustee for the City of Leduc, Sarah worked hard to build relationships and gather input from parents and stakeholders in order to bring an informed voice to the Board table. As vice-chair for the past year-and-a-half, she offered leadership, stability, and guidance to the Board of Trustees. She was a key facilitator in rolling out our strategic planning process, and her business and data analysis lens will truly be missed.”

“Moving forward, the Board of Trustees will finish off the last few months of this term as a team of six rather than seven,” said Chair Klaassen. “We are pleased to congratulate Trustee Steed on her election as vice-chair for the remainder of the term. Stepping into a new role is an exciting opportunity: Robyn, may you thrive with the newfound challenges and responsibilities. I look forward to working more closely with you as we continue on our journey to inspire success.”

“It is my honour and privilege to continue where Sarah has left off and serve as vice-chair for the remainder of this current term,” said Trustee Robyn Steed. “I appreciate the trust and confidence my fellow trustees have placed in me, and look forward to working alongside Chair Klaassen and supporting the Board by making this transition smooth and seamless.”
