Board of Trustees of BGRD names new Superintendent
The Board of Trustees of Black Gold Regional Division No. 18 has appointed William Romanchuk as the Superintendent of Schools/CEO effective July 1, 2019.
Romanchuk is currently the Division’s Associate Superintendent of Learning Services, a position he has held since 2012. He has also previously worked as a teacher, assistant principal, and principal in his thirty-three year long career in public education.
In announcing the appointment, Board Chair Barb Martinson highlighted Romanchuk’s “demonstrated leadership capabilities… commitment to excellence in serving our students… and his familiarity with the Division.”
Romanchuk says he is honoured to be selected for the position and will continue to work with students, staff and parents to ensure the effectiveness of the Division. “I understand firsthand the need to be innovative, strategic, flexible, and solution-focused,” he says.
Romanchuk takes over from Dr. Norman Yanitski, who announced his June 2019 retirement at the start of the school year.
