  • COVID-19 Update – Classes cancelled, student attendance at school is prohibited

    Dear Black Gold Families,

As you may be aware, today, Sunday, March 15, 2020 – the province enacted the aggressive measure to curb the spread of COVID-19 by cancelling classes indefinitely for all pre-kindergarten to Grade 12 students in the province. This measure is unprecedented in our history.  Attached is a letter from the Minister of Education that was shared with all school divisions.

Beginning immediately, student attendance at school is prohibited. As is outlined in the letter, teachers will be expected to provide lessons for all students.  Black Gold staff has been working on this plan for some time now and will begin implementation on Monday, March 23. All PAT exams are cancelled for the rest of the year but all diploma exams will proceed as scheduled.

More information will be forthcoming in the coming days regarding both receiving lessons and next steps.

In the Minister’s words, this situation is unprecedented and fluid.  We appreciate all of you helping us work with this issue as it unfolds.

Thank you for your understanding and support during this difficult time.

    William Romanchuk
    Superintendent of Schools/CEO
