Black Gold School Division (BGSD) is pleased to congratulate Diane Miles on her appointment as our new Transportation Manager, effective August 1, 2021.

“I am pleased to welcome Diane to this important role, as she is an experienced professional with proven management and leadership skills honed over many years with Black Gold,” said Superintendent of Schools Bill Romanchuk. “We are confident that she will continue to ensure the effectiveness, safety and functionality of the Division’s student transportation system for many years to come.”

“I am very excited to take on this new role and appreciate the opportunity that I have been given,” said Diane Miles. “I am looking forward to working with our bus contractors and drivers in this new role, and bringing in a fresh perspective to the new school year.”

Diane started her career in school transportation almost 19 years ago, by entering data into a busing system after a software failure. That temporary job turned into a full time position as a transportation and student information system secretary. Diane then joined BGSD almost nine years ago as a Transportation Technician, and over the years has successfully taken on increasing administrative and leadership responsibilities.

Diane is very family-oriented. She is a mother of two, and both her son and daughter are married. She currently has one grandchild with two more on the way this summer. She has been married to her husband almost 33 years. The family has a strong volunteer ethic, and are heavily involved in the Edmonton Scottish Society, a not-for-profit community organization. They also love to travel to anywhere warm with a great beach.
