With the work of the Teacher Review Teams now complete, the Board of Trustees is moving up its timetable to discuss the review report and Senior Administration’s recommendation regarding the Division’s participation in the validation process for the Draft Kindergarten-Grade 6 Curriculum.

The Special Board Meeting is now scheduled for 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 22, 2021. Members of the public and media can follow the live proceedings on the Division’s YouTube Page: https://www.youtube.com/c/BlackGoldSchoolDivision.

A summary of the teacher’s review and recommendations will inform the collaborative decision-making by the Board and Senior Administration as to whether or not to pilot all or part of the new curriculum in our schools. The ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and its impacts on students and staff are also important considerations. The Board’s decision, as well as the teacher’s summary report, will be shared with Alberta Education and our school community after the meeting.

The Review Teams appreciate that the Division has not make a decision regarding validation/piloting until the teams had had the opportunity to include our teachers’ voices into this process.
