Black Gold Regional Division No. 18 proudly supports School Bus Safety Week (October 15 – 21, 2017) and knows that teaching school bus safety rules to parents, guardians, teachers, principals, motorists and students is important for the safety of all our students. Our schools will be celebrating throughout the week in a variety of ways.
The Alberta Student Transportation Advisory Council (ASTAC) is also hosting its Provincial School Bus Safety Week poster contest for all Kindergarten to Grade Six students across Alberta in order to promote school bus safety. Prior to the provincial poster contest, the Division will take the entries from all the Black Gold Regional Schools and hosts their own competition. All the entries are then sent on to the provincial competition to be judged amongst approximately 2,000 entries that are received annually.
Who May Enter: Entries may be submitted by students in Grades K to 6 enrolled in a Black Gold Regional School.
Deadline: Tuesday, October 24, 2017
Theme: ‘Rider Rules = Safe to School’
Posters should be a concept depicting the safety rules of the bus and contain the theme. Contestants must illustrate the above theme only and the theme must be shown on the poster. Illustrations should be positive in approach, demonstrating only proper school bus safety behaviour. At least part of a yellow school bus must be present in the poster.
Prizes: $25.00 cash prizes will be awarded to two students in each of Grades K to 6 whose posters best illustrates the theme.
Poster Specifications: Completed poster size must be 11” x 17” on heavy paper suitable for framing.
A Poster Contest Form must be completed and attached to the back of each poster. Posters are to be submitted to the Transportation Department at Black Gold Regional Division No. 18.
