Congratulations to Black Gold Regional Division No. 18’s (BGRD)  two 2016 – 2017 Distinguished Leadership Award recipients: Principal Zane Chomlak and Assistant Principal Chris Stiles. Stiles and Chomlak were selected from a large number of nominees from all over Alberta for their outstanding leadership skills.

As award recipients, both Black Gold Administrators were recognized and presented with a plaque of recognition at the Council for School Leadership’s Distinguished Leadership Award gala and dinner on May 19, 2017 at the Hyatt Place Hotel in Edmonton.

About our 2016 – 2017 Distinguished Leadership Award Recipients

Zane Chomlak (shown right in picture above) is one of BGRD’s dedicated principals; he began his administrative career in rural Alberta and is now the Principal of East Elementary School in Leduc. Zane believes that the critical element in the foundation of the principalship is strong positive relationships: once this foundation is solid, one is able to effectively lead students, staff, and parents. Zane plays an integral role in meeting the needs of the students and their parents while recognizing the dedication and efforts of his staff.

Chris Stiles (shown left in picture) is an exemplary and long-serving Assistant Principal at Leduc Composite High School. Chris provides inspiring and evidence-based leadership that truly engages all stakeholders, including students, parents, staff and community stakeholders. Chris was key in the creation, organization and implementation of our Vimy Ridge Canadian Heritage Tour 2017, a learning experience for over 210 students across our Division. Chris provided tireless leadership in the development of all aspects of this incredible learning experience for our students along with exemplary communication with all stakeholders to make this a reality. Our students, staff, parents and community are truly fortunate to have the exemplary leadership that Chris provides as part of our teaching and learning team dedicated to inspiring success for every student, every day.
