Bus Drivers & Contractors
Your Path to a Fulfilling Career as a Bus Driver
Driver Information
- Black Gold School Division does not employ school bus drivers. All drivers are hired and managed by independent bus contractors who are responsible for staffing the routes they are awarded
- Contractors must follow all Division policies and safety standards. We work closely with them to ensure drivers meet provincial requirements and Division expectations
Driver Requirements:
To be eligible to drive for a contractor serving Black Gold School Division, applicants must:
- Hold (or obtain) a valid Class 2 driver’s licence
- Obtain a Provincial “S” Endorsement
- Maintain valid first aid certification
- Participate in ongoing refresher training
- Obtain a Child Intervention Record Check
- Provide consent for a Criminal Record Check and Driver Abstract
Why Drive a Bus?
Bus driving offers a unique, flexible employment opportunity:
- Find a perfect fit if you’re looking for part-time hours. Work a split day shift from Monday to Friday. This allows for another job to be worked between the bus runs
- It may be possible to bring a preschool child along on your route and save on daycare costs if there is room on the bus
- Take summers and holidays off with your children
- Receive training to upgrade to a Class 2 license
- Receive a government grant for training
📌 Please note:
Benefits may vary by contractor.
