David Horrocks
Bio
For the past 15 years, I've been a proud resident of Devon, moving here after earning my Master's Degree in Leadership and Management to serve as a local church leader. Alongside my wife of nearly three decades, Maureen, we’ve raised two children and care for her parents, an experience that has reinforced my commitment to family and intergenerational support. My interest in public education is deeply personal; my father's service as a Public School Board Chairperson inspired me to give back to my community in the same way. I am now ready to bring my experience in leadership and service to the Blackgold School Board.
As a candidate for Public School Board Trustee, my commitment is to ensure that every student has the opportunity to succeed in safe, supportive, and innovative learning environments.
Platform
I am running for School Board Trustee because I believe every child deserves:
- Equitable access to quality education, ensuring all students have the resources they need to succeed.
- Opportunities for career development, to help prepare them for the future.
- Support for mental health and inclusion, creating a safe and welcoming environment for all.
- Schools that can keep pace with the needs of growing communities, ensuring our facilities and resources grow with us.
I am committed to representing Devon and Calmar families with integrity, approachability, and a strong vision for the future of public education.
Why I'm the Right Choice
Beyond my professional and family life, I’ve invested countless hours into our community through volunteer work, youth mentorship, and leadership initiatives. I value listening to diverse voices, collaborating to solve problems, and ensuring that the decisions we make today create opportunities for tomorrow’s students.
I believe that strong public schools are the heart of strong communities. By focusing on equitable funding, preparing students for future careers, supporting authentic learning and mental health, and meeting the demands of each school, we can build a system where every student thrives.
I am committed to listening, learning, and working collaboratively with families, staff, and community partners to ensure our schools serve all students well.
