Under the direction of the Director of Facilities, the Master Tradesman - Electrical is responsible for the operation of the school division’s electrical system, computer network, fire alarm systems, security systems and intercom network.

Duties:

  • Develop, implement, and administer preventative maintenance programs, including long-term planning and detailed service records
  • Direct electrical staff and contractors, including planning, organizing, assigning, scheduling, and coordinating work
  • Obtain required electrical permits and ensure compliance with applicable codes and regulations
  • Prepare cost estimates for materials and projects, including operations and maintenance (O&M), IMR, and school-requested work
  • Procure materials and supplies, approve invoices, and maintain inventory for service operations
  • Identify system issues, recommend solutions, and develop improved methods and procedures
  • Prioritize, coordinate, and schedule work orders in collaboration with administrative staff and other trades
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:

  • Certified Master Electrician designation
  • Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License and acceptable driver’s abstract
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, including emergency response capability
  • Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with staff, administration, and other trades
  • Commitment to maintaining a safe and compliant work environment

Hours & Compensation

  • Start date: to be determined
  • Hours of work: Monday to Friday
  • Salary in accordance with current Facilities & Operations Staff Handbook: $41.90 - $44.06/hour
