Maintenance Worker - Facilities Department
Under the direction of the Project & Maintenance Coordinator, the Maintenance Worker performs skilled work in the maintenance, repair, installation and construction of building components, fixtures and facilities related equipment throughout the school division.
Duties
- Performing preventative maintenance duties as required and routine repairs of applicable building components
- Performing basic construction duties such as, but not limited to painting, minor framing, mudding, taping, concrete repair, welding etc.
- Inspecting and repairing playground equipment, roofs, grounds, fences
- Unloading, loading, transporting and delivering facilities related equipment and materials to and from sites
- Responding to emergency security call-outs
- Assembling, disassembling and moving furniture when necessary; removing and replacing damaged furniture, move/carry boxes, stages, chairs or other school supplies
- Identifying maintenance problems for resolution and taking initiative in developing new methods and procedures in response to maintenance concerns
- In consultation with Maintenance Worker II – Lead Hand, prioritizing work orders, coordinating and scheduling work with administrative staff and other trades
- Maintaining and stocking service vehicle
- Checking and repairing furnishings and equipment at the request of the school
- Performing other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Grade 12 or equivalency
- Dangerous goods transportation, WHMIS, First Aid course, and OH&S knowledge related to school divisions
- Two years’ experience or an equivalent combination of training
- Possession of a Valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s License and acceptable driver’s abstract
- Experience operating a Bobcat an asset
- Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Demonstrated mechanical ability
- Basic Computer Skills
Hours & Compensation
- Start date: to be determined
- Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week
- Salary in accordance with current Facilities Operations Group Employee Handbook: $28.76 - $31.64/hour
