Black Gold School Division has approximately 13,500 students from Early Childhood Services (ECS) to Grade 12 in 32 schools within the communities of Beaumont, Calmar, Devon, Leduc, Leduc County, New Sarepta, Thorsby and Warburg. Approximately 768 teachers deliver instruction with assistance from 603 support staff.

As a member of the Student Services team, the Family School Liaison will provide a continuum of mental health supports for children, youth and their families.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with school-based staff to implement skill-based and strength-based interventions for children/youth such as building resiliency, development of social skills, problem solving skills, self- awareness, anxiety reduction, stress management
  • Provide assistance with referrals to community-based agencies
  • Provide resources for families
  • Use time in a flexible manner as needed to meet the needs of students and families
  • Maintain and document files
  • Participate in collaborative planning and supervision meetings

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant health or social sciences field (i.e., Social Work, Child and Youth Care)
  • Knowledge of addiction and mental health
  • Experience or a willingness to support children impacted by intergenerational trauma would be an asset
  • Familiar with the developmental, educational, emotional, social and recreational needs of children, youth and families
  • Confidence in delivering mental health programming and comfortable with public speaking
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and collaboration skills
  • Strong organizational and time management skills

Salary & Benefits:

  • Position term: August 25, 2026 - June 29, 2027
  • Hours of work: Monday to Friday (7 hour days) based on school division instructional day calendar
