Black Gold School Division is seeking a dynamic, collaborative, and creative teacher with exceptional organizational and communication skills, as well as strong technology skills, to join our team. The successful candidate must be able to foster and promote collaboration and positive relationships within school sites across BGSD and within the K-12 Instructional Coach Team. Additionally, building partnerships and maintaining strong relationships with stakeholders, including post-secondary institutions and industry partners, are key to this role.

Reporting to the Director of Curriculum & Instruction - Div. 3/4, the Career Education & eLearning Instructional Coach will facilitate career education communities of practice, coordinate and implement dual credit programming, support the organization and management of locally developed courses, and lead the development and continuous improvement of online and blended eLearning programming.

The Career Education & eLearning Instructional Coach will:

  • Organize and facilitate communities of practice with Div. 3 and Div. 4 teachers in BGSD focused on the new Career Education & Financial Literacy curriculum
  • Have a strong understanding of the architecture of the new Alberta curriculum
  • Ensure that dual credit programming available to BGSD students meets established criteria leading to student success
  • Work closely with Alberta Education, post-secondary institutions, and provincial partners on dual credit programming
  • Work closely with high school administrators and counsellors, and collaborate with multiple individuals at varying levels
  • Work closely with dual credit students on registration, orientation, support, and tracking
  • Manage student enrolments and reporting in PowerSchool
  • Oversee the BGSD eLearning program through course design and development, facilitating teacher and student access to resources, and acting as the site administrator
  • Represent BGSD at meetings and events as assigned
  • Support BGSD priority areas of literacy and numeracy as part of the Instructional Coach team
  • Collaborate with other school jurisdictions to share and improve resources
  • Coordinate the creation and updating of BGSD Locally Developed Course Programs of Study
  • Maintain project documentation and course folders
  • Work collaboratively with all members of the Learning Services team

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years of successful teaching practice
  • Demonstrated ability and experience in effective pedagogy, design, differentiation, and assessment
  • Highly organized and detail-oriented, yet flexible, with the ability to see the big picture and understand how multiple elements of schools fit together
  • Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate with educational stakeholders, post-secondary institutions, and community partners
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Knowledge of junior high and high school programming in Alberta, and experience and understanding of CTS
  • Ability to confidently facilitate professional learning opportunities
  • Commitment to ongoing professional growth
  • Familiarity with various learning management systems used in dual credit courses, including Moodle, D2L, Canvas, Blackboard, etc.
  • Commitment to Truth and Reconciliation understanding and practice

Asset Qualifications:

  • Experience with Ed Tech/AI
  • Knowledge of and experience working with dual credit programming
  • Fluency in French
  • Knowledge of myBlueprint software and resources
  • Experience with the VRETTA digital platform

Note: Black Gold teachers on a continuous contract are eligible to be seconded from their current school-based role for this position
