Position Commences August 2026

Thorsby Junior-Senior High School (TJSHS) is located 40 minutes southwest of Edmonton in the Town of Thorsby, AB and is part of the Black Gold School Division. The school’s roll is approximately 205 students from grades 7-12 split evenly between junior and senior high. The school offers a full range of core programming and a wide selection of option and CTS classes as well as extracurricular activities.

Educational leaders applying for this position should have the following experience and characteristics:

  • Teaching experience in Division Three core subjects
  • Division Four experience in humanities is an asset
  • Administration experience in Divisions Three and Four an asset
  • Experience creating Jr. High & Sr. High timetables
  • Experience with creating pathways towards graduation and graduation tracking an asset
  • Experience with supporting curriculum implementation an asset
  • Experience with Level B Testing, Inclusive Education, Literacy/Numeracy intervention, and general learning support an asset
  • Skills and experience in working with the school team, division supports as well as outside agencies, to create an environment where all students are successful
  • Proficient knowledge of the use of technology in a school environment
  • Skilled in the Nine Leadership Quality Standards Competencies: Fostering Effective Relationships, Modeling Commitment to Professional Learning, Embodying Visionary Leadership, Leading a Learning Community, Supporting the Application of Foundational Knowledge about First Nations, Métis and Inuit, Providing Instructional Leadership, Developing Leadership Capacity, Managing School Operations and Resources, and Understanding and Responding to the Larger Societal Context
  • Completion of or pursuing a related graduate degree
  • Completion of or willingness to complete the LQS Certification Program
  • Completion of or willingness to complete one of the following programs is required:
    • Start-Right Program – Olds – C.A.S.S..
    • Educational Leadership Academy – ATA
