Why Your Child's Bus May Be Delayed or Cancelled

Road Conditions & Hazards

Individual route cancellations may occur due to:

  • Poor road conditions (ice, drifting snow, low visibility)
  • Road hazards (accidents, debris, obstructions)
  • Safety decisions are made per route by the contractor

Cancellations may also occur due to unexpected road closures issued by the town, city, or county (repairs, emergencies, municipal work).

All notifications are posted as soon as Transportation is informed:

  • Bus Status 4 app
  • blackgold.ca

Bus Breakdowns

Breakdowns can occur before a route begins or while students are on board.

Before the route begins:

  • Every effort is made to arrange a replacement bus
  • If no replacement is available, the route may be cancelled
  • Parents are notified via Bus Status 4 app and blackgold.ca

During a route:

  • The driver stays with students
  • A safe backup bus or alternative is arranged
  • Parents are notified via Bus Status 4 app and blackgold.ca

Tip: Make sure children are dressed for the weather in case of delays.
