Duties:

  • Work both independently and as a team member with the classroom teacher, Education Assistant, Youth Care Worker, and paraprofessionals (SLP, OT, PT) to support children with diverse needs.
  • Provide assistance and support to children in a classroom setting and small group instruction, under the direction of the teacher.
  • Provide support and assistance to students with medical challenges, speech delays, challenging behaviour, and/or learning delays.
  • Assist with implementation of IPP strategies.
  • Assist with any general classroom or student-specific related duties.
  • Assist young children with restroom needs, which may include lifting and diaper changes.
  • Other duties as assigned by school administration.


Qualifications:

  • Education Assistant Certificate/Diploma or experience in the role of EA is an asset
  • Current certification and training in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is an asset
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing demands is required
  • Understanding of positive behaviour interventions and supports
  • Ability to problem solve in a manner that respects the dignity of all learners
  • Ability and willingness to perform a variety of tasks with all students is required.
  • Ability to work effectively with children with challenging behaviours and learning disabilities.
  • Willingness to assist with feeding, changing and/or toileting.
  • Willingness to accept new challenges and learn new ideas
  • Willingness to supervise both indoors and outdoors 


Hours & Compensation

  • Position term: October 15, 2026 - June 28, 2027
  • Hours of work: Monday to Friday 12:00pm - 3:00pm
  • Salary and benefits according to current C.U.P.E. Collective Agreement
