Duties:

  • Provide support and assistance to students working on numeracy skills
  • Assist young children with restroom needs
  • Work as a team member with educational assistants, consultants, teachers 
  • Problem solve and engage in conflict resolution strategies with children
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing demands is required 
  • Ability to problem solve in a manner that respects the dignity of all learners 
  • Willingness to accept new challenges and learn new ideas 

Qualifications:

  • Education Assistant certificate/diploma is an asset
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, Positive Behaviour, and/or behaviour management strategies is an asset
  • Initiative and ability to create effective and dynamic social relationships with students is required
  • Effective use of written and verbal communication skills in interacting with students, parents and other team members
  • Training/experience working with academically, behaviorally, and emotionally challenged students is an asset
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively with classroom teachers, caregivers, and school administration, under the supervision of a school administrator
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing demands
  • Experience and/or willingness to work with assistive technology

Hours & Compensation

  • Start date: To be determined to June 29, 2027
  • Hours of work: Monday to Friday
  • Salary and benefits according to current C.U.P.E. Collective Agreement
