Junior High Teacher - Covenant Christian School
Covenant Christian School is an alternative Christian program within the Black Gold School Division, whose core purpose is: “Flourishing Learners, Delighting in God, Inspired to Serve.” Covenant offers a Christ-centered education to approximately 410 students in kindergarten to grade nine. As such, we teach the Alberta curriculum from a Christian perspective, using a framework called Teaching for Transformation (TfT). Contract Term:
October 16, 2026 - June 29, 2027
Teaching Assignment:
Grade 9 ELA & Math (0.40 FTE), Division 2 and 3 Literacy & Numeracy Intervention (0.30 FTE), Student Leadership & Faith Formation (0.30 FTE)
Responsibilities & Qualifications:
- Team teach, collaborate, and provide whole-class and small-group instruction for Grade 9 ELA and Math.
- Deliver targeted small-group literacy and numeracy intervention for students in Division 2 and 3 using student data to inform responsive instruction.
- Teach Junior High CTF courses focusing on student leadership and faith formation, coordinate Junior High chapels, and foster pastoral connections.
- Holds or is eligible for an Alberta teaching certificate.
- Demonstrated passion for Christian education and a desire to support students academically, relationally, and spiritually.
- Strong skills in literacy and numeracy instruction, with a willingness to use student data to inform teaching.
- Comfortable providing both classroom teaching and targeted small-group intervention for diverse learning needs.
- Highly collaborative within a cohesive teaching team.
- A strong commitment to student leadership, discipleship, and faith formation, with a desire to build authentic, positive relationships with students.
