Qualifications:

  • Fluent in English; French language is an asset.
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing demands.
  • Prior experience working with students with specialized-needs.
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability and willingness to perform a variety of tasks with all students is required
  • Experience and/or willingness to work with assistive technology.
  • Education Assistant training, certificate/diploma is an asset. 
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) training is an asset.
  • Willingness to accept new challenges and learning new ideas is required. 
  • Willingness to create effective and dynamic social relationships with students.
  • Willingness to supervise both indoors and outdoors
  • Ability to work as a team member with classroom teachers to support instruction and care to children with severe and mild/moderate needs, under the supervision of a school Administrator.
  • Post-Secondary Education or Education Assistant certificate/diploma is an asset

Requirements:

  • Provide academic, emotional, and social support to Grade 7-9 students with specialized needs. 
  • Work collaboratively to implement Individualized Student Programs (ISP). Assist with the implementation of complex behavior plans and keep detailed records on behavioral issues. 
  • Assisting students who require English as an Additional Language (EAL) support.
  • Provide direct support with changing and toileting as required. 
  • Assist with feeding and specialized care needs.
  • Supervise students both indoors and outdoors.
  • Other duties as assigned by administration. 

Hours & Compensation

  • Position term: September 9, 2026 - June 28, 2027
  • Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 9:05 AM - 3:35 PM (Hours may be subject to change)
  • Salary and benefits according to current C.U.P.E. Collective Agreement
