Custodial & Grounds Coordinator - Black Gold School Division
Duties & Responsibilities
- Hires staff, and, in consultation with school principals, supervises all Division custodians
- Conducts routine inspections, of both day and night shifts, of all division schools both communicating with staff – training, informing, motivating, problem solving – and ensuring that standards of performance, safe working conditions and work habits are maintained
- Coordinates the activities of custodial staff assignments, specialized school break routines, and vacations
- Monitors employee absences and replacements
- Researches/purchases/evaluates new equipment and orders all custodial supplies
- Monitors and controls the supplies and equipment inventory while assessing and arranging equipment maintenance and repairs
- Performs minor repairs and maintenance of custodial equipment
- Provides ongoing instruction on cleaning practices, operating procedures, and standards of performance
- Provides recommendations for department staffing, prepares posting request forms, and provides timely and well developed staff performance evaluations
- Coordinates WHMIS certification of all staff
- Plans the budget and work of the department
- Oversees grass cutting & snow removal
- Manages all gym floor care and gym floor replacements.
- Supports the function of Community Use which includes booking outside non-operational and non-instructional days.
- Performs other assigned duties that are within the area of knowledge and skills required by the job description
Qualifications:
- Experience in all aspects of custodial service, products, administration and management of custodial staff
- Technical expertise in commercial flooring products and maintenance including hands-on knowledge of maintaining and restoring gym floors
- Completion of High School Diploma
- Demonstrated ability with written and verbal communication
- Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License
- Thorough knowledge of WHMIS legislation and WCB regulations
- Working knowledge of basic computer hardware and software
- Working knowledge of the Collective Agreement and division policies/procedures applicable to custodial staffing
- Level One First Aid and CPR certification is an asset
Hours & Compensation
- Start date: TBD
- Hours of work: 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM (Note: the hours involved may vary to meet the objectives of the position)
- Salary: Pay level 8 ($85,065 - $111,897)
- Salary and benefits according to current Division Office Handbook
