Education Assistant - Riverview Middle School
Duties:
- Provide academic, emotional and social support to students with complex behavioral needs, one-on- one, in group settings and in the inclusive classroom, under the direction of the classroom teacher
- Work as a member of the learning support team with teachers, consultants, other Education Assistants and counselors, to provide appropriate support, intervention and programming, under the supervision of the learning support teacher and school administration
- Assist with implementation of behavior plans and ISP strategies and keep appropriate records regarding academic and behavioral issues
- Other duties as assigned by school administration
Qualifications:
- Initiative and ability to create effective and dynamic social relationships with students are required
- Effective use of written and verbal communication skills in interacting with students, parents and other team members
- Training and experience in working with academically, behaviorally and emotionally challenged students is an asset
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively with classroom teachers, caregivers, and school administration, under the supervision of a school administrator
- Ability to be flexible and adapt to changing demands
- Experience and/or willingness to work with assistive technology
- Education Assistant training, certificate/diploma is an asset
- Non-Violent Crisis Intervention training is an asset
- Training in behavior management strategies is an asset
- Positive Behavior training is an asset
Hours & Compensation
- Position term: TBD - June 29, 2027
- Hours of work: Monday to Friday, 8:00 am - 3:00 pm
- Salary and benefits according to current C.U.P.E. Collective Agreement
