2024 Inspiring Success Award Nominee: Karalene Sweetnam
The nominees for this year’s Inspiring Success Award of Distinction include École Bellevue School (EBS) Early Intervention Pre-K Teacher, Karalene Sweetnam.
Karalene creates a calm welcoming pre-k classroom environment that best meets the sensory needs of all the students. Karalene’s open communication with families has helped shape the daily routine and meet the diverse needs within the classroom.
In order to develop a strong rapport with a supportive environment Karalene has creatively worked with support staff, including OT and SLP, to discuss the progress, successes, and targeted areas of growth of students.
“Karalene organizes events that celebrate diverse cultures and traditions, which has instilled a sense of pride and belonging among students from all backgrounds,” said one nominator, Sajida Ali. “As a result, students and staff are motivated to strive for excellence through embracing and respecting the richness of our diverse world. Karalene’s creative talents mean she is always up for a last-minute artistic background for the Christmas concert using resources at hand.”
Karalene has inspired success in staff by encouraging team members to have an active voice expressing ideas and suggestions on how to improve the day-to-day routines creating a positive environment where everyone feels valued and a part of the team. Karalene’s fervent dedication to incorporating community celebrations into the curriculum has had a profound impact on both students and staff. It has transformed traditional classroom learning into vibrant, interactive experiences that extend beyond the walls of the school.
