2024 Superintendent’s Service Award for Excellence Nominee: Lisa Robertson
The nominees for this year’s Superintendent’s Service Award for Excellence include West Haven Public School (WHPS) Educational Assistant, Lisa Robertson.
Lisa strives to support the students she works with and others with the best educational opportunities. Whether using resources from the school or her personal stash she is willing to try anything. Lisa has the ability to work with any student, find their strengths and weaknesses and build on from there. She is a great communicator and collaborates whenever there is an opportunity.
“Lisa is one of the best EAs I’ve worked with in 20 years of teaching. She is truly and deeply invested in seeing the students she supports grow and learn,” said one nominator, Sean Pullen. “She’s always researching, developing and building lessons, activities, tools, innovations, etc. that promote her student’s learning.”
“Lisa Robertson is just one of those employees you wish you could clone. She’s an educational assistant who has a mindset that anything is doable,” added nominator, Deb Schmidt. “She takes pride in all that she does; always thinking up new and innovative ideas for working with students. There’s never a day that goes by where you don’t hear her laughing with students.”
Lisa is always willing to work with any student in any grade. It doesn’t matter how complex the student might be, she can build relationships with mutual respect and trust. She works tirelessly, using every second at school, to benefit her students and further their education. She writes detailed notes for each period of each day outlining what her student has worked on, what they achieved, and what their behaviour was like. Even with some tough students, she never gives up on them. She is so committed to her job and is determined to find any way to make a connection.
