Black Gold School Division is responding to a provincial announcement regarding additional funding in education.

On February 12, Alberta Education announced $143 million in targeted funding to address classroom complexity in Kindergarten to Grade 6 schools.

In November, the province asked school divisions to complete classroom complexity surveys. The province says it evaluated the data and has provided targeted funding for identified schools within Black Gold.

“Black Gold School Division appreciates the additional funding, and we are eager to receive more specific information about the allocations,” says Michael Borgfjord, Superintendent, Black Gold School Division. “We don’t have detailed information yet. Once we do, we will work with our schools to implement plans to support students and educators.”

“Thank you to the government for considering the challenge of classroom complexity. Additional funding in public education is always appreciated,” says Devonna Klaassen, Board Chair, Black Gold School Division.

As information becomes available updates will be provided.
