Teachers learn about new resource to help students thrive with the written word

Black Gold elementary teachers are getting together and learning new ways to help students become more confident with their writing.

They’re exploring “Simplify Writing,” an evidence-based instructional resource that is aligned to outcomes in Alberta curriculum.

In a recent PD session, teachers discussed how to best utilize these materials, which emphasize using structured lessons that build on each other to increase students’ writing skills. 

Feedback from teachers suggests that the program’s clear assessment guidelines and use of exemplars can help students to feel more confident in their writing while also lowering stress for teachers, setting both parties up for success!
