Important Update Regarding CUPE Local 3484 Labour Action - March 19

RE: CUPE Local 3484 and BGSD Ratification

Dear Parents and Guardians,

On Wednesday, March 19th, 2025, both CUPE Local 3484 and the Black Gold School Division (BGSD) Board of Trustees ratified the 2024–2028 Collective Agreement, ending labour action effective immediately.

We are excited to welcome back our valued support staff tomorrow, allowing us to begin the process of returning to normal operations in our schools. There has been a tremendous amount of disruption for our students, families, and staff. We continue to ask for your patience as we reintegrate all staff and students back into our schools. As the labour action has ended suddenly, schools will require some time to ensure proper programming.

BGSD anticipates that all learners who have been at home on a full-time or part-time basis will return to school by Monday, March 24th. Schools will reach out to impacted families with further information. Programs such as Pre-Kindergarten and Junior Kindergarten will resume normal operations on Monday, March 24th.

With this agreement in place, BGSD is fully focused on continuing to deliver exceptional educational experience to inspire success in the 2024-2025 school year. Thank you once again for your support.
