Dear families,

As you are likely aware, the Government of Alberta passed Bill 2 – The Back-to-School Act on Monday evening.

As a result of this legislation, all students and educators will return to the classroom on Wednesday, October 29, 2025.

That means classes will resume as scheduled in your children’s timetables and student transportation services will be running again as of Wednesday morning.

This has been an incredibly challenging time for everyone involved. We ask for your ongoing grace and patience as we transition back into classroom routines and the return to in-person learning.

We ask parents to have patience with school staff as they transition to regular classroom routines. We understand that parents/guardians may have questions regarding refunds, school field trips, and extra-curricular activities. We ask that parents allow the schools to reestablish routines and we will communicate with you as soon as decisions are made. We have asked our principals to prioritize smooth re-entry plans and need them to have the time and space to support students and staff.

You can read the Government of Alberta’s news release for specifics about the legislation.

We will share more information once the Government of Alberta has provided additional details which may include changes to the school calendar, and will be in touch regarding strategies to address learning loss.

Sincerely,

Michael Borgfjord

Superintendent
