Update Regarding ATA Labour Action - September 24
Dear Parents/Guardians,
This morning (September 24, 2025), the Alberta Teachers’ Association (ATA) and Teachers’ Employment Bargaining Association (TEBA) announced that they have reached a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA). An MoA is a tentative agreement between the provincial parties, which they take back to their members for a vote.
We should know the voting results by October 1, 2025. If both parties vote to accept the MoA, it will be considered ratified and the strike will be averted. Until the ratification process is finalized, the strike remains scheduled to begin on Monday, October 6. We encourage families to continue making plans as if a strike will be taking place, as it is always better to be prepared…just in case.
We will continue to monitor the situation closely and will provide timely updates to students, staff, and families as new information becomes available. Thank you for your ongoing support and understanding.
For more information, please continue to monitor your emails and the school division’s website (www.blackgold.ca).
Black Gold School Division values its teachers and is hopeful that a strike can be averted.
