This week École Secondaire Beaumont Composite High School is having a Culture Week to celebrate the different cultures present in their school, and to support students’ identities. On Tuesday they had different activity booths for students to explore during the lunch hour.

“We had a henna booth, face painting, a Swedish snack booth, an Inuit boot, and more,” said Learning Supports/RISE Teacher Katie Deboer, the. “We also had a number of performances; Ruvilyn from the Division Office, represented the Philippines as a singer, a group of students represented different African countries, and we also had Scottish Highland Dancers.”

The school has a variety of activities planned for the rest of the week, from more performances to a cultural potluck.

“I would like to thank all of the staff who have supported us, either by making meals, running booths, or just helping us with supervision,” said Deboer. “We also had a lot of students and families bringing in food and different activities, so I would like to thank everyone – from students, staff, families, and community members –  for helping make this week really awesome!”
