Black Gold welcomes Ian Tisdale as new Principal of Calmar Secondary Collegiate School for 2026-27
Black Gold School Division is pleased to announce it has appointed Ian Tisdale as the new Principal of Calmar Collegiate Secondary School, starting in the fall of 2026-27.
Tisdale is coming to Black Gold after most recently serving as a Principal of The BRICK Learning Centre School in Ponoka (in Wolf Creek Public Schools). Tisdale brings 29 years of experience in K-12 education, including 11 years as a school administrator.
“Ian is a veteran administrator. With extensive experience in traditional school settings, as well as in an outreach school, Ian understands how to help students succeed and reach graduation,” says Ray Cable, Associate Superintendent of Human Resources, Black Gold School Division.
“Ian’s professional achievements have led him to present at the local, provincial and national level on innovative teaching and leadership practices. His strong network and deep understanding of career pathways education will ensure the Collegiate program, based at CSCS, flourishes,” says Cable.
“I am excited about the opportunity of joining the Calmar Secondary Collegiate School team,” says Tisdale. “CSCS is valued as a vibrant school in Black Gold and in the Calmar community with its focus on strong academics, athletics, visual and performing arts, and collegiate programming. I am looking forward to continuing to build strength in all of these important program areas, with staff, students and families.”
Tisdale says, “I am impressed by the Calmar community’s support of its schools. I am committed to working within Calmar to build strong relationships and, with that as the foundation, continuing to build engaging learning opportunities for students. I am excited to make CSCS my home.”
“When students connect to real-world learning applications and see relevance and purpose in their education, they thrive. The Calmar Secondary Collegiate School understands that, and I look forward to supporting continued excellence in the way CSCS supports students.”
