Congratulations to Black Gold's first ever Inclusive Educator Award recipient
Congratulations to Diana Zucca, the first ever recipient of Black Gold School Division’s Diversity, Equity, and Human Rights (DEHR) Inclusive Educator Award!
Zucca was one of 20 teachers nominated across the division for this award, which celebrates educators throughout Black Gold and their commitment to using inclusive and affirming practices to honor diversity, equity, and human rights in their school communities
This is something that Zucca has consistently exhibited throughout her time at Black Gold.
She has created a culture of belonging and respect that positively impacts the entire school community, says one of the colleagues who nominated Zucca. Students seek out her classroom as a safe and supportive space, and her dedication to inclusion models the values our division strives to uphold.
Her leadership is defined by the way she builds inclusive spaces where every person feels safe, respected, and genuinely valued for exactly who they are, another nominator says. The result of her work is a meaningful and visible shift in our culture, moving us from a place of mere participation to a community of true, authentic belonging.
Zucca was selected as the recipient of this award through a panel of DEHR committee members, who considered scope of impact, commitment to DEHR principles, and number of nominations, in their decision.
