Students from across Black Gold School Division are celebrating their achievements and making cross-division friendships after competing in the annual Black Gold Elementary School Track Meet at Riverview Middle School.

1200 student athletes representing 19 elementary schools from across the division participated in the track meet, competing in various track and field events, making this one of the largest events hosted in Black Gold

I love the competition and seeing others trying their best, says Emma, a student athlete from Robina Baker Elementary School. And I love being able to show everyone what I love to do, and that I'm good at it

It's really fun competing against other people from other schools, says Grayson, another student athlete from École Bellevue School.

The long-standing event has been hosted at Riverview Middle School for nearly 30 years, graciously organized and facilitated by school staff as well as student and community volunteers.

This event is a labour of love that brings together some of our youngest athletes from across BGSD, says Jennifer Kruse, Assistant Principal at Riverview Middle School and one of the event organizers. This day is an amazing celebration of our division community and incredible student athletes. We are so grateful to everyone's contributions that make this event possible!
