  • Leduc Incident

Just before 3:00pm, a potentially dangerous situation in Southfork, Leduc occurred.  RCMP were conducting an investigation on the north side of Songhurst Wynd, in the community of Southfork, when a man under investigation locked himself in his house.  After doing a risk assessment, officers decided there was a higher than normal level of risk to the public and police safety.  Leduc RCMP, then, requested that schools not allow busses to enter the Southfork subdivision.

Principals of schools in Leduc with students residing in Southfork (Caledonia Park School, École Corinthia Park School, Covenant Christian School, École Leduc Jr. High School, Leduc Composite High School) were asked to keep these students in their schools and contact parents informing them of the situation and asking them to pick their children up at the school.

RCMP resolved the situation shortly after 3:00pm and contacted Black Gold Regional Division stating that they resolved the situation and it was safe to send these students home on the school buses.

Thank you to both the RCMP and our school principals for acting quickly in the interest of keeping our children safe.

    Sincerely,

    Black Gold Regional Division No.18
