The Black Gold School Division (BGSD), City of Beaumont, and Beaumont Minor Football are excited to announce the recent signing of a Memorandum of Agreement to develop a new field house facility to deliver much-needed recreational activities and programming in the community.

“As president of Beaumont Minor Football, and the group behind the initiative, I am thrilled that we have entered into this partnership with the City of Beaumont and Black Gold School Division,” said Beaumont Minor Football Association President Leslie Stacey. “This new facility will expand on the outstanding opportunities that the new multi-purpose field has already created. The opportunity for not just sports, but community activities around a new hub are boundless, and we are excited to work to bring our vision of the field house to realization.”

“This agreement is a great example of collaboration between local government, school boards and community organizations to build better amenities for all of Beaumont,” said City of Beaumont Mayor Bill Daneluik. “Our new, state-of-the-art multi-use field is already on track to be a new regional sports hub, demonstrating our commitment to improving recreational opportunities for Beaumont families. I’m thrilled that we’re moving forward with our partners to amplify our recreational amenities with a field house.”

“Our school community is very excited to be part of this latest partnership with the City of Beaumont and the Beaumont Minor Football Association,” said BGSD Superintendent of Schools Bill Romanchuk. “Once complete, this facility will greatly enhance our in-school programming, as well as École Secondaire Beaumont Composite High School Bandit’s football team. It will allow the Bandits to host the Alberta Schools Athletic Association home games and play-off games. This infrastructure project is great for both the Black Gold school community and greater community.”

Beaumont Minor Football is actively planning and fundraising to build the new field house, with the support of City of Beaumont and Black Gold School Division, who have allocated land parcels to the project.

The new 8,000 square foot field house will have locker room facilities, including a dedicated locker room and offices for the École Secondaire Beaumont Composite High School Bandits. The facility will have change rooms, meeting rooms, an open concept space, a canteen and publically accessible restrooms. The facility will also feature a media observation room and press box that will give members of the press, time keepers, and staff a hub from which they can operate. There are also tentative plans for an outdoor gymnasium.

The City of Beaumont is providing all the required civil infrastructure, at cost, to service the utilities required for the facility. Once the facility is completed, the Association will turn it over to the City to operate and maintain. Black Gold School Division will retain exclusive use, in perpetuity, of a portion of the field house to administer and deliver recreational activities and programming.

“This new facility will take a world-class field and turn it into a world-class destination,’ said Stacey. “It will allow us to not only host home football games for our high school and senior minor football teams, but tournaments, fundraisers, markets, festivals, and lots of youth sporting events. It’s adjacent location to the new Four Seasons Park also makes it ideal to support and augment municipal events.”
