  • Supporting the vital work of our Legion branches

Every year, the Board of Trustees donates to the Legion branches within the Black Gold catchment area to support the vital work their members do to advocate for and serve our veterans and their families, and to help Canadians honour and remember the courage and sacrifices of the men and women who served, and those who still serve and protect our nation.

This year, we were honoured to have the Royal Canadian Legion Devon Branch No. 247 representative CDE. Matthew White, Veteran, and his service dog Ben join us at the November 1 Regular Board Meeting to present Board Chair Esther Eckert with the first poppy.

“We are grateful to our Legion branches for their deep commitment to ensuring the tradition of Remembrance remains relevant to our youth,” said Chair Eckert. “Thank you for supporting our school-based Remembrance Day ceremonies, for helping distribute poppies and educational materials, and offering our teachers opportunities to have your speakers share stories and experiences about Veterans and Remembrance with students. Thank you for your service, and for all that you do.”
