    Festival of Ideas Event

    Friday, November 21, 2014

On Friday, November 21, 2014, Leduc Composite High School (LCHS) and representatives from the University of Alberta (U of A) participated in a Festival of Ideas event. Four graduate students from the U of A presented summaries of their research work. LCHS students had the opportunity to be inspired by brilliant minds and gain insight into some of the most promising research happening today at the U of A. The following is a list of presenters:

    Jocelyn Bachman (Westwood)- Nanotechnology

If you’ve checked your phone, used your computer, or even driven in a car you have used nanotechnology.

    Andreea Mohora- Elite Sport Athletes

Once athletes get to a high level of sports everything revolves around athletic life. What are the social, physical, or psychological challenges after they retire?

    Maureen Murray-Coyotes thriving in Cities

Unlike many other wild animals, Coyotes are thriving in cities like Chicago, Los Angeles, and here in Edmonton.

Travis Schoepp- Nuclear Fusion Electricity Generation

World electricity demand is expected to rise drastically in the coming years and nuclear fusion has the potential to meet ever increasing demand in an environmentally friendly manner.
